Craig Roberts joined us for our new 60-Second interview series.
In this short and snappy interview, Craig, our Solutions Director for Controlled Environments in GB, tells us what inspires and motivates him and talks about his career and family life:
In one sentence, how would you define what you do at Bidvest Noonan?
I work with clients and our operations team to design and implement solutions to meet our clients’ operational and strategic objectives. Part of this is finding a commercial balance that works for both organisations, that adds sustainable and obvious value to what we deliver.
What has been your best day at Bidvest Noonan?
I’m new to the business so have had many inspiring days during the first couple of months. We are growing at pace, and I was energised by people’s outlook with lots of energy and fresh ideas; that’s quite refreshing in what is an established company.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Keep it simple, keep it short, keep it fun and always be humble.
A board member gave me that advice some years ago after a presentation to a client that had run over the time slot, wasn’t very engaging and I had a habit of using 100 words when 5 would do, it’s stuck with me.
How do you motivate yourself?
In my role, I think most people are naturally quite motivated, however, I have things that I have to do, but that I don’t like doing, so I diarise and plan in these tasks, often I’ll do these first thing on a Monday, so they are done and out of the way.
What has inspired you the most?
Having a young family. No two days are the same, it (literally) is what gets me up early in the morning and makes me push myself to ensure we can do what we want to do in life, especially when it comes to our future.
If you had a motto, what would it be?
It’s a bit of a bumper sticker but “push yourself because no one else is going to do the work for you”. That rings true at work and home and especially resonates when I am trying to (and often failing) to motivate myself to keep fit.
